In Sarasota, Manatee and DeSoto counties, nearly 1,600 children are being cared for by foster parents.
To recognize foster families, the child welfare agency Safe Children Coalition (SCC) organizes the annual collection of gift baskets, set to be distributed in May, which is National Foster Care Month.
Ahead of National Foster Care Month, SCC encourages the community to express gratitude towards foster families for their vital role in caring for children in crisis.
